The social and ecological responsibility of a company becomes increasingly important if selecting business partners, especially suppliers. The Georg Fischer Executive Committee declared environmental and social aspects to be mandatory criteria for selection and assessment of suppliers besides price, quality and supplier’s reliability. The Georg Fischer Supplier Code defines the requirements for sustainable business practices applicable to all suppliers of goods and services. The core issues are business ethics, respect for human rights, socially responsible working conditions, compliance with environmental standards and application of management systems.
The principles of the Code reflect the policies of Georg Fischer and refer to international conventions and standards:
Principles of the United Nations Global Compact (UN)
Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)
Conventions of the International Labor Organization (ILO)
Business Charter for Sustainable Development of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)
SA 8000 (Standard for Social Accountability)
Georg Fischer expects its suppliers to promote the compliance with the Code in their own supply chain. The Supplier Code is available in the following languages:
