Kunshan – with Shanghai on the east and Suzhou on the west, Kunshan belongs to Yangtze River Delta, the most important economic region for the international trade in goods with China. In 1989 Kunshan was established as a city, covering a land mass of 927.68 square kilometres and has a registered population of 2 mill.
The demand for cars in the fastest-growing automobile market has
more than doubled in the past few years. China has the prospect
of double-digit growth rates. Last year, economic growth was around
nine percent.
While some are still gaining experience and surveying development
opportunities in the Middle Kingdom, covering 9.57 million square
kilometers, others are already operating there in production plants
firmly anchored in the market.
GF Automotive has also been active in China for several years
now. Initially with a foundry in Zhangjiagang, then in Suzhou and
more recently with an iron plant in Kunshan.
