SBTi validates GF’s near- and long-term climate targets

2026/10/29 - 07:00 (中欧时间)

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated GF’s near- and long-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets, confirming their alignment with climate science and supporting GF’s ambition to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

SBTi-approved targets have been an integral part of GF's Sustainability Framework since 2022. Following the transformation of GF into a pure-play Flow Solutions company, the company updated its near-term targets to reflect the new organizational scope and established long-term targets aligned with its commitment to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. SBTi has now validated these targets, confirming that they are aligned with science-based pathways supporting the goals of the Paris Agreement.

“The validation of our science-based targets by SBTi marks an important milestone for GF and reinforces our commitment to measurable climate action,” says Mads Joergensen, GF CFO. “For GF, sustainability is about turning ambition into action, strengthening our business while helping our customers achieve their own sustainability goals. With clear, science-based targets, we are strengthening accountability across our operations and value chain, driving progress on emissions reductions and laying the foundation for long-term value creation.”

GF’s validated targets Under its validated pathway, GF has set science-based targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 59% by 2035 and by 90% by 2050, compared with the adjusted 2024 base year. The company also aims to reduce Scope 3 GHG emissions by 66% by 2035 and by 97% by 2050 per tonne of production output, compared with the same base year. By the end of 2025, GF had already reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 51% compared with the previous 2019 (adjusted) baseline.

To translate the new near- and long-term climate targets into action, GF has developed decarbonization roadmaps outlining the measures required to achieve its emissions reduction targets. Measures include supply chain decarbonization, particularly in raw materials, the continued expansion of renewable electricity, improvements in manufacturing and energy efficiency, upgrades to heating systems, and the electrification of the vehicle fleet. The roadmaps will guide the implementation of these measures and support GF in systematically tracking progress toward its near- and long-term climate targets.
