GF and the Competence Centre for Sustainability Robotics (CCSR) are joining forces to explore how robots and advanced sensing technologies could improve the inspection and maintenance of critical flow infrastructure.
Inspecting a pipeline or water distribution system is not always straightforward. Critical components in industrial and infrastructure environments can be difficult to reach, while undetected damage can lead to disruption, higher costs and wasted resources. Advanced robotics could offer new ways to access hard-to-reach areas and gain valuable insights into the condition of critical assets.
GF’s expertise in Flow Solutions, materials and infrastructure applications complements CCSR’s research capabilities in autonomous robotics and sensing. The two organizations have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding to investigate how these technologies could be applied to the inspection, monitoring and maintenance of critical infrastructure.
The work will progress from identifying promising applications and developing prototypes to testing integrated solutions in environments relevant to GF. The goal is to turn research into practical applications that could help operators detect problems earlier, plan maintenance more effectively and extend the lifetime of critical infrastructure.
