Georg Fischer inaugurates its new logistics warehouse in Schaffhausen
Georg Fischer is investing CHF 5.2 million in construction work at its Schaffhausen location. GF Piping Systems, a Corporate Group of the industrial corporation, is today inaugurating a state-of-the-art, 11,500 square meter logistics warehouse in Ebnat at its Schaffhausen site after only an eight-month conversion phase. A total of ten additional jobs have been created at the new logistics center.
The new warehouse has space for some 15,000 pallets for storage of more than 3,500 different products from GF Piping Systems. Logistics operations began even while the conversion work was underway. The conversion means that different warehouse sites can now be concentrated at a single location. This will reduce significantly the internal costs of warehouse logistics for GF Piping Systems. A further advantage is that the space that has been freed up can now be used for other purposes. The cantonal authorities supported GF Piping Systems in this construction project.
About a hundred people are expected to attend today's inauguration ceremony in the presence of Martin Huber, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Yves Serra, CEO. Marcus Cajacob will greet the guests officially on behalf of the Business Development Department of the Canton of Schaffhausen.
