Urs Frei to become new Head of Corporate Communications

Georg Fischer is pleased to announce the nomination of Urs Frei as the new Head of the Corporation’s Communications, with effect from 1 October 2010. Aged 42, he is a Swiss citizen.

Urs Frei studied history, literature and linguistics at universities in Switzerland and abroad before going on to work as a journalist and editor. He then moved to positions of responsibility in communications, his first post being the Adecco Group’s Head of Internal Communications. From 2004 to 2005 he was Head of Corporate Communications at NAB (Neue Aargauer Bank), and from 2006 to 2010 he was Director of Communications for Alstom Power Service’s Europe & Africa region.

As of 1 October 2010, Bettina Schmidt, currently Head of the Communications division, will be assuming responsibility for strategic communication projects in the Corporation aimed primarily at brand positioning and internal communications. Bettina Schmidt has been with Georg Fischer since October 2004 and became Head of Corporate Communications in March 2009.
