GF wins two Red Dot Awards 2026 for innovative indoor climate solutions

03/06/2026 - 09:30 (Central European Time)

GF has received two Red Dot Awards: Product Design 2026, recognizing the innovative design and functionality of the Uponor Siccus 16 dry underfloor heating and renovation system and the Uponor Smatrix Thermostats T-247 and T-267. The awards highlight GF Building Flow Solutions' commitment to delivering energy-efficient, user-centric solutions that support sustainable and comfortable indoor environments.

Uponor Siccus 16 was awarded in the Red Dot meta-category "Innovative Design" and subcategory "Heating and Air Conditioning Technology", while the Uponor Smatrix Thermostats were recognized in the category "Heating and Air Conditioning Technology" (Thermostats). Both products impressed the international jury through their combination of design excellence, performance and practical value for modern buildings.

Addressing renovation challenges with innovative design

Responding to the growing demand for efficient building refurbishment, Uponor Siccus 16 was developed specifically for renovation projects where structural limitations and installation complexity present significant challenges. The lightweight dry underfloor heating system features an ultra-low installation height of just 20 mm, allowing integration without affecting door heights, thresholds or existing electrical fittings.

Designed as a one-person installation solution, Uponor Siccus 16 eliminates multiple installation steps and can reduce installation time by up to 40%, improving efficiency for installers while minimizing disruption for occupants. By integrating heating directly into the floor, the system also creates greater design freedom and additional usable living space by removing the need for wall-mounted radiators. Optimized for low-temperature operation and fully compatible with heat pumps, Uponor Siccus 16 supports energy-efficient heating and cooling while helping extend the lifecycle of existing buildings through sustainable refurbishment.

Smart control for comfortable and efficient living

The Uponor Smatrix Thermostats T-247 and T-267 were recognized for combining contemporary aesthetics with intuitive functionality and robust performance. Developed for demanding residential environments such as multi-family homes and rental apartments, the thermostats feature a clean design, capacitive touch interface, integrated humidity sensor, silent operation and sleep mode to enhance everyday comfort.

Available in both wired and wireless versions, the thermostats offer installation flexibility and long-term durability while integrating seamlessly with the Uponor Smatrix portfolio.

At the core of the system is GF's intelligent Smatrix Pulse control algorithm, featuring an autobalancing function that continuously adapts to daily routines and usage patterns. By optimizing system performance, it delivers more consistent temperatures, faster response times, and lower energy consumption compared to conventional on/off systems, supporting both occupant comfort and sustainable building operation.

Award-winning solutions for sustainable buildings

The Red Dot Award is one of the world's most respected seals of quality for outstanding design. In a highly competitive field of international entries, both products stood out for their ability to address real-world challenges through innovative design and technology.

Olli Haavisto, Head of Global Product Portfolio Management at GF Building Flow Solutions, adds: "Great design creates value when it improves both user experience and system performance. With the Uponor Smatrix Thermostats, we combine intuitive control, energy efficiency and durable design to help create comfortable and sustainable indoor environments."

Luca Schiavo, Head of Portfolio Management EMEA at GF Building Flow Solutions, comments: "In renovation projects, simplicity and performance are key. With Uponor Siccus 16, we provide a solution that makes energy-efficient refurbishment faster and more accessible without compromising on comfort or design flexibility."

The awards reinforce GF’s focus on developing innovative solutions that make buildings more energy efficient, comfortable and future-ready—whether through simplified renovation, intelligent control or integrated indoor climate systems.
