In 2022, GF announced that the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi) has validated the company’s science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions along the value chain. As part of these efforts to mitigate the impact of climate change, GF keeps expanding the number of sites around the world with carbon-neutral operations in Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
Today, GF has ten production companies in various regions of the world that provide Flow Solutions for Industry, Infrastructure and Buildings and are carbon neutral within their own operations (Scope 1 and 2).
The drop down below provides a complete list of all carbon-neutral operations.
Reducing emissions
Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in GF’s own operations include Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, which include direct ones, such as emissions resulting from the processing of materials, and indirect ones, such as emissions stemming from the generation of purchased energy (Source: Homepage | GHG Protocol). In addition to the reduction, the remaining emissions must be offset through the purchase of carbon credits or through other carbon removal mechanisms. To claim carbon neutrality status in its own operations, a site needs to achieve a 90% reduction in CO2e emissions for Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the baseline emissions of 2019, or a reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions to a level below 40 tonnes of CO2e.
Key measures to reduce GHG emissions include the switch to renewable electricity, more efficient machinery and waste heat recovery measures.
Driving change as a sustainability leader
Climate change and the energy transition are some of the most pressing sustainability issues of our time. With products and solutions that address these challenges, GF recognizes its critical role in driving change while also pursuing sustainability within its own operations. Over the past years, GF has made significant progress in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across all sites worldwide, in line with its Sustainability Framework 2025. An overview of GF’s progress is included in the Mid-Year Report 2025.
