GF在2015年确定的2020年可持续发展目标与公司2016-2020年的战略目标紧密相连。在本周期过半时发布的《2017年可持续发展报告》对取得的进展进行了总结。
2017年，全球经济上扬以及与之相关的GF生产设施的高产能利用率导致能源消耗增加。然而，一系列广泛的项目使GF实现了更高的生产效率。因此，三个部门都超额完成了2017年的能源效率目标。同时，可再生能源的使用也大大增加。
多年来，员工健康和安全一直是GF的首要任务。2017年，公司继续开展 "零风险 "活动，以便在其全球所有设施中牢固树立安全文化。因此，2017年的事故率从每百万工作小时25.0起的基准线降低到15.9起，大大低于2017年的目标，甚至低于2020年的目标。
