State-of-the-art plants in China inaugurated

GF is strengthening its customer relationships in the Chinese market. GF Piping Systems and GF Casting Solutions have inaugurated two new state-of-the-art production plants.

GF's success story in the Chinese market began with a subsidiary of GF Piping Systems in 1993 and is continuing in 2023 with the construction of new, cutting-edge production sites across the country. The GF Piping Systems plant in Yangzhou (one of the most famous and renown imperial cities 350 kilometers northwest of Shanghai), was inaugurated on 24 April 2023, while the GF Casting Solutions one in Shenyang (700 kilometers northeast of the capital Beijing), officially opened two days later. Both plants have been operational since early 2022.

The opening ceremonies, which brought together local government representatives, customers, employees, business partners and GF leaders, took place now after a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions.

China has a key role to play in the GF Strategy 2025, which aims to increase GF’s sales to CHF 5 billion by 2025. Over 30% of these sales are expected in Asia, mostly in China. In 2022, one in five members of GF's 15'000-strong family already worked in China, almost as many as in Switzerland.

Proximity to the customer is essential

The Yangzhou plant of GF Piping Systems features state-of-the-art technology and energy-efficient installations. It serves sectors such as microelectronics, water treatment, chemicals, marine, building construction, and data centers. Its cutting-edge prefabrication workshop includes a clean room, enabling the production of complex and customized products for the semiconductor and energy industries.

The Shenyang plant of GF Casting Solutions, which is its second high-pressure die-casting (HPDC) plant in China, is located near key automotive clients like BMW, Audi, Volvo, and FAW Hongqi. It produces large structural components, reducing logistics costs and ensuring better quality. The plant uses advanced machinery for aluminum and magnesium components and adheres to the latest sustainability standards.
